In class last Wednesday, we talked about how the modernists in the early 20th century felt the need to discover a truly American voice in response to immigration. As a result, the Native American voice in literature became important in order to highlight/hail what is truly American as oppose to what was then to be underlined as non-American, namely Jewish American immigrant voices. Considering the history of the American colonists/pioneers with the Native Americans, it's pretty ironic that this happened.

It makes me wonder:
If Americans had to discover a "truly" American voice in the 21st century, which voices might they use? More importantly, to whom would we be reacting?

  1. The truely American voice.

To respond on your question about if Americans had to discover a "truly" American voice in the 21st century, which voices might they use? More importantly,to whom would we be reacting?

These are very interessting questions that you have narrow down here. First of all most of American civilization know that America is a melting pot of immigrants. The most important are the British setlers. They are the one who brought a universal language of communication to all other immigrants. The British immigrants had a lot of influence on major immigrants comming to America. However, we know that the Jews are very educated people and they know how to trade. Huge companies and high positions are in the hand of Jews.

Listening to the voice of Jews would not be a good idea. Because Jews people have their religion and this religion must not have a huge influence on the American people. So the government choose the voice of the first settlers, these setlers are the British. Because of economical, political position of the country. These two are very important for American society to survive.

The people in the present day should more be reacting on the government, that the government should make life easy. Because the government exist out of an elite people who reign the population. The government does not have problems of dealing with suffering and poverty.
I hope to have answer your question.
